Case Study Four - Cambridgeshire

Adaptation and Extension to Existing Property

The property is a detached two-storey house built in the 1970s on a restricted plot surrounded by trees.

The house was remodeled and extended to provide ground floor accommodation with open plan living space for the family, client’s bedroom, assisted en-suite and accommodation for a live-in carer.

The large open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space opens out onto a raised patio with a pergola for shading.

The first floor was extended to provide additional bedroom accommodation.
It has been a real pleasure working with ARA. Not only have they designed a beautiful and accessible home for our son but also a space that reflects all of us as a family. It is a fully functional and usable home but does not feel clinical which we were keen to avoid. My son’s quality of life has vastly improved now he has a home designed around him and his ever evolving complex care needs. ARA supported us at every stage of the design and build process which we fully appreciate as neither of us had experience of a project like this. They were always happy to take a call or email if we had any thoughts or concerns. We would highly recommend ARA looking to do a similar project to ours
